Elmont Memorial High School had 11 students participate in the Al Kalfus Long Island Math Fair, with four students earning county-level recognitions.
New Hyde Park Memorial High School 12th graders Carrie Mun and Kathleen Gray received second place recognitions for their participation in the Martin J. Kelly Writing Contest of the Irish Cultural Society. Certificates, along with a monetary award, were mailed to their homes.
Congratulations to Floral Park Memorial High School students Ashwin Ghera and Jack Ratajczak, who received first place on the district-level in the Junior Women’s Club of Bellerose Short Story and Poetry Contest. Their entries are currently being judged at the regional level.
The Board of Education recognized the valedictorians and salutatorians from across the district, as well as the board of education president, energy efficient students at H. Frank Carey High School, Coca-Cola Scholar semifinalists and a National Board-Certified Teacher, at its meeting on Feb. 25.
Students and staff at H. Frank Carey High School celebrated P.S. I Love You Day for the second consecutive year on Feb. 14. The mission of this important day, which is held every year on the second Friday of February, is to inspire mental health awareness and decrease bullying.
New Hyde Park Memorial High School art student Katie Gutierrez received an Award of Excellence for her work showcased in the Art League of Long Island's "Go APE" exhibit, which is now in its 13th year.
