On April 23, the Academy of Finance junior class participated in a virtual mentoring session with members of the Academy of Finance Advisory Board. The mentors included Joshua Printz, HSBC; David Goodman, Mass Mutual; Samantha Grenier and Afshan Syed of Northwell Health; Cheryl Fajardo, representing the Greater NHP Chamber of Commerce and NexisCard; Jennifer Lehmann, coordinator of Business Education for the Sewanhaka Central H.S. District; Principal Dr. Richard Faccio; Peter Caputo, ERA Caputo Realty; and Chris Gomoka, AoF alum and local attorney.
The 2020-2021 academic year has been a challenge for many New Hyde Park students participating in extracurricular activities. However, the Model UN Club, advised by Mr. Jonathan Novak, was able to quickly adapt, attending numerous virtual conferences during the COVID-19 pandemic, with more to come.
The boys district swim team qualified for counties in the 200 medley relay. Christian Cordova (HFC) earned the title of All Division by taking third place in the 100 backstroke. At the county meet, the relay (Christian; Brian Florkowsi, NHP; Ethan Calhoun, FPM; and Ryan Yu, HFC) performed well, and Christian went on to make it to the finals! Overall, the boys had a fantastic season and look forward to next year!
