The boys district swim team qualified for counties in the 200 medley relay. Christian Cordova (HFC) earned the title of All Division by taking third place in the 100 backstroke. At the county meet, the relay (Christian; Brian Florkowsi, NHP; Ethan Calhoun, FPM; and Ryan Yu, HFC) performed well, and Christian went on to make it to the finals! Overall, the boys had a fantastic season and look forward to next year!
Chigozirim Ifebi and Kimone Walker were among 17 Long Island winners of the 2021 Code-a-Thon! The competition, which was coordinated by the nonprofit We Connect the Dots, challenged students to create websites that offer a solution to a societal problem. Chigozirim was a first-place winner, and Kimone was a second-place winner. Congrats!
The winter season was in full effect at our school, as each musical ensemble showcased their performances from both school and home! Thanks to the new instruments purchased by the district, all of our band and orchestra students were able to continue making music during remote learning.
There’s a new districtwide book club! The book, “Shadow and Bone,” will be provided to students who are interested in participating. A virtual book discussion, watch party for the show and “Page 2 Screen” chat are planned for April. Please sign up through the attached flyer.
The National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is a national honor society that recognizes excellence in leadership, academia, and service. Every year, a select few students are chosen, from grades eighth to 10th, to be inducted by their school’s chapter of the honor society.

On June 23, Elmont Memorial High School, along with Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages and Island Harvest, helped supply food to more than 400 families in the Elmont community.
