The Board of Education has appointed Christopher Fiore as principal of H. Frank Carey High School and Dr. Christopher Salinas as principal of Sewanhaka High School.

Fiore, a Yorktown Heights resident, served as assistant principal at Eastchester High School since 2010. Prior to his appointment to assistant principal, Fiore served as the school’s English department chairperson for seven years and athletic director for four years. He holds a professional diploma in school administration and supervision from Mercy College, a Master of Science in secondary English from Iona College and Bachelor of Arts in English from Fordham University.

"It is with great excitement that I look forward to my new position as principal of H. Frank Carey High School,” Fiore said. “I consider it an honor and privilege to have the opportunity to serve the Carey community."

Dr. Salinas most recently served as Elba Junior-Senior High School principal and director of assessment for the Elba Central School District. His experience also includes three years as principal at Fairport High School and four years as principal at Avon High School. Dr. Salinas received his Doctor of Education and Master of Science at the University of Rochester and his Bachelor of Arts at St. John Fisher College.
"It is both an honor and a privilege to join the greater Sewanhaka school community as high school principal,” Dr. Salinas said. “In collaboration with our students, staff, parents and district leadership, we will provide a positive student-centered environment that will enable all students to be successful lifelong learners. I am thankful for the opportunity to lead a learning community comprised of fantastic students and teachers and excited to see the great things that both will accomplish in the years ahead.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Ferrie and the Board of Education are looking forward to working with Mr. Fiore and Dr. Salinas, as they bring their enthusiasm, leadership skills and experience to the district’s students.

The new administrators will take the helm of their respective school buildings on July 18 and encouraged students, parents, community members and alumni to visit them throughout the summer months.
