Carey Seventh-Graders Learn the ‘Recipe for Giving Thanks’
Throughout the month of November, counselors from the H. Frank Carey guidance department visited seventh-grade classes to educate students about important social-emotional topics and to foster character development.
In conjunction with these lessons, students on Team Legends and Team All-Stars took time out of their busy days to reflect and give thanks to friends, family and acquaintances who have positively affected their lives. In full Thanksgiving spirit, students wrote and decorated thank-you notes on “recipe cards” in their science classes. Seventh-grade counselor Mr. Sollin, along with Ms. Bivona and Ms. Carmody of the H. Frank Carey library staff, helped students to prominently display their creations on team aprons in the library. The Recipe for Giving Thanks project serves as a great start to the holiday season and showcases the mindfulness of the seventh-grade students.
