Carey Recognizes January Seniors of the Month

H. Frank Carey is proud to announce Joseph Campagna and Laiba Sandhu have been named Seniors of the Month for January.

Joseph is a kind and respectful young man who has been a wonderful asset to the H. Frank Carey community. Not only has he demonstrated outstanding achievement by maintaining a 95+ GPA, he has been named an AP Scholar with Distinction. He is an active member of the National and Technical honor societies and holds a position with the Science Honor Society. Additionally, he attends the very competitive Instrumentation and Automation program at Sewanhaka High School. You can see his familiar face not only on the volleyball court as he leads his team as captain, but in the student government office, as he is the student representative for the Class of 2019. He has proven himself to be an admirable leader. His enthusiasm, dedication and hard work have set a stellar example for his classmates and peers. His positive attitude and cheery nature have added to the character of this community.

Laiba is high achieving and ranks squarely in the top 5 percent of her class. She is an incredibly kind and caring young woman who is an excellent role model. She has been a helpful and enthusiastic asset to Carey with her numerous leadership positions in various clubs throughout the building. Her extraordinary intellect and amazing work ethic have contributed to her acceptance into the English, National, Science and World Language honor societies. In addition to her academic accomplishments, she is editor-in-chief of the Clipper, president of the Saving Our Society Club, president of Art Palettes, art editor of Poseidon, communications and media director of 21st Century Scholars, president of the Desi Society, editor of the yearbook, as well as a member of the Mathletes. She was instrumental in integrating South Asian fashion in this year’s Hallways to Runways fashion show. She loves science and has received many awards for her participation in schoolwide and community science fairs. This senior is very active in community service and, remarkably, can speak five languages.

Let’s congratulate Joseph and Laiba!
