Special Guests Encourage Students to Overcome Fear at Sewanhaka
On March 6, Dr. Richard Joseph and Colonel Michelle Ewy visited Sewanhaka High School to speak with students about overcoming fear in the pursuit of big ideas.
Dr. Joseph spoke about how overcoming fear of failure can lead to innovation. “Don’t fear failure, because you only fail if you quit,” said Dr. Joseph, as he spoke about his career and how he has overcome obstacles that he has faced. Dr. Joseph serves as the chief scientific adviser to the chief of staff and secretary of the Air Force. He provides assessments on scientific and technical issues affecting the Air Force’s mission. Dr. Joseph has more than 40 years of experience as a physicist, directed energy researcher, senior program manager, national security adviser and executive. His final message to students was to think of life as a path that is not always predictable but exciting, especially when you are confident that you can overcome any obstacles you might face.
