Floral Park PEARLS Visit Federal Reserve With Elmont Peers
On April 30, 17 members of Floral Park PEARLS leadership and adviser Dr. Cheryl St. John accompanied their Elmont counterparts for a joint day at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Students learned about the educational programs at the bank, which primarily focus on the importance of the U.S. economy and the job opportunities that the bank offers. Students toured the bank and were later treated to an enlightening interview with the executive vice president, chief information officer and head of technology, who advised the students to plan and prepare, anticipate the unexpected, have a vision but realize that it is fine to step out of the box, take every opportunity to be open-minded, find their voices and speak up, look beyond the familiar and understand that leadership comes through listening and observing.
The PEARLS leaders and their adviser would like to thank Ms. Caron Cox, chairperson of guidance at Elmont Memorial High School, and her team for this opportunity.
