Carey Recognizes June Seniors of the Month
Congratulations to Nicholas Corona and Elizabeth Sardes for being named H. Frank Carey’s June Seniors of the Month.
Nicholas has remained steadfast, pleasant and optimistic through many challenges. He is never seen without a smile and has never allowed his circumstances to become a reason to “sit on the sidelines” of his life. He has steadily improved academically, runs varsity track and was captain this past winter season, despite being told that he would most likely never be able to actively participate in sports activity. Nicholas was nominated as one of Long Island’s Extraordinary Seniors for the 2018-2019 school year and was recently asked to be spokesperson for the Osmond Foundation. Inspired by his own life experiences, he plans to pursue a career as a physician’s assistant, beginning his journey at Nassau Community College.
Elizabeth is a dedicated student, bright and articulate. She has an exceptional work ethic and is an incredibly kind and caring individual. Elizabeth has an amazing intellect, with a grade point average of more than 100, and has been inducted into the National, Science and World Language honor societies. Elizabeth is a sophisticated writer; she has written many articles for the Carey Clipper, has been actively involved in Poseidon and is employed by Apple as a summit writer. She has been an exemplary leader for the school as president of SAGAA, president of the World Language Honor Society and captain of the varsity tennis team. She is artistic and has created multiple T-shirt designs, which are on display at RedBubble.com. This senior is extremely well rounded as a member of 21st Century Scholars, a volunteer for the PALS (Promoting Academics Through Life Skills) social club and a helpful tutor to younger students. In addition, she was recognized as one of Newsday’s 2019 Extraordinary Seniors.
Congratulations to Nicholas and Elizabeth!
