Floral Park senior Roopanshi Rampal began a new program at Anna’s House in Belmont last summer.
The KareersforKids summer program, which was designed for children ages 7-14, covered the topics of technology/coding, business/entrepreneurship, film production, art and languages (French and Japanese) in a fun and interactive way.
Floral Park seniors Camilla Chronister, Anna Craig, Kyle Enriquez, Jamie Liesner, Erin O’Neill and Isabella Ramirez volunteered as leads for the eight-week summer program. The program leads came up with their own curriculums for the children. In each session, the children participated in 20-minute rotations in all five subjects. As part of the curriculum, students learned about business plans, virtual reality, screenwriting, linear perspective, the basics of French and more. For each subject, the children came up with a final project to display everything they had learned over the summer.
At the end of the KareersforKids program, the leads organized a showcase for the participants to showcase their final projects to their parents. From creating their own companies, making their own movies, programming their own robots, learning a new language, to developing their art skills, KareersforKids was an overall success!
