Sewanhaka High School Names Valedictorian and Salutatorian

Sewanhaka High School has named Hiba Agha and Rahul Maharjan as the valedictorian and salutatorian, respectively, for the Class of 2021.


Hiba’s weighted GPA of 102.6218 is a testament to her success in her classes. Throughout her years at Sewanhaka, she has participated in various clubs and organizations. She is a member of the Art, English, Math, Science, World Language and National honor societies. Hiba has also dedicated her time as a member of the Chess Club, Reading Club, Yearbook Club and Class Board, and she has been recognized by St. John’s University for her role in the Women in Science Club. As a participant in the school’s Key Club, she has been involved in several acts of community service. Though she is currently undecided on what she will pursue in college, she would like to focus on finance, business or accounting.


With a weighted GPA of 102.3561, Rahul’s academic achievements are apparent. This year, he was recognized for his high scores on the AP Exams with a National AP Scholar Award. Rahul stays busy at Sewanhaka as the vice president of the Science Honor Society, as well as a member of Model United Nations and Mathletes. He is also a member of the Math and World Language honor societies. Additionally, Rahul is the reigning champion of the Math Department’s Pi Day competition. Outside of the classroom, he continues to excel. As captain of the varsity cross country team, he has received All County recognition for cross country and All Conference recognition for winter and spring track. And, last summer, he interned with the Coordinator of Radiology at Lenox Hill Hospital. Rahul would like to major in astrophysics in college.
