Elmont Memorial’s Virtual Enterprise Victory

Elmont Memorial High School’s Virtual Enterprise students Farah Alhayek, Ryen Campbell, Epiphany Hill, Crystal Hutchinson, Santona Joseph and Tochi Ozulumba have successfully advanced to the national level of the Business Plan Competition.

This year’s team of six young women joined forces to create Hęarth, a business that creates trendy and affordable clothing out of 100 percent recycled materials.

The team participated in the 2020-2021 Local/Regional Business Plan Competition on Jan. 21. Elmont Memorial was one of 90 schools invited to participate in this year’s competition. Team members Farah, Ryen and Santona each presented aspects of the business plan to a variety of judges from business professionals to Virtual Enterprise employees.

Elmont Memorial was then one of 40 schools chosen to advance to the second round. On Feb. 24, the students presented their business plan again to a new set of judges. Their presentation was so impressive that they were selected as one of 12 schools to represent Long Island on the national level. They will be participating in the virtual 2020-2021 National Business Plan Competition in April 2021.
