The Elmont Memorial school community showed off its Spartan pride at the school’s annual homecoming on Oct. 20.
The theme for this year’s event was “Elmont Loves the Movies” and included beautiful floats and banners created by students. After enjoying a festive parade, students, staff and community members headed to the football game to support their beloved Spartans who did not disappoint, defeating Calhoun High School, 29-21.
During halftime, the school’s marching band delivered an outstanding performance along with school’s cheerleaders. There was also a special tribute from the Class of ’58, the first graduating class from Elmont. The group presented Principal Mr. Kevin Dougherty with a plaque and will be funding a scholarship for an outstanding music student in the senior class. After the alumni presentation, members of the homecoming court were introduced to the crowd. Congratulations to Jordan Simmonds and Sherese Arne, who were named homecoming king and queen.
