Congratulations to the Elmont Memorial Model UN team for its outstanding performance at the 31st MUNUC Conference hosted by the prestigious University of Chicago. The 31st MUNUC is an international Model United Nations Conference that attracted more than 4,000 international scholarly students.
The Elmont delegation of 10 students represented the nation of Burkina Faso and earned four first-place committee awards in Disarmament and International Security Committee (DISEC), Special Political and Decolonization Committee (SPECPOL), United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the African Union. A second-place award was earned in the Legal Committee. All 10 members of the delegation received a committee award; eight students won first place in their committees, while two students won second place. Congratulations to head delegate Munahil Sultana, faculty adviser Nkenge Gilliam, chaperone Phillip Cabrera and the entire delegation for their successful conference.
