Elmont Students Qualify for State Science and Engineering Fair

Congratulations to Elmont Memorial’s Iyinoluwa Tugbobo and Michael Lawes for qualifying to represent the state of New York at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair.

Lawes won first place in microbiology for his project, “Investigating the Ability of a Receptor to Influence Advanced Glycation End-product Related Neurodegeneration using a Nematode Worm Model.” Tugbobo won second place in materials science for his project, “Investigating the Ability of Bentonite Nanoclays to Ameliorate Properties of Cement for 3D Printing Applications.” Lawes and Tugbobo will travel to Phoenix, Arizona in May to compete for additional prizes and scholarships.
