Elmont Students ‘Speak Out’

Twenty-four of Elmont’s most talented wordsmiths in grades 7-12 participated in the annual Speak Out event on April 16 in the library, sharing their original works with an audience of their fellow poets. This year’s theme was “Soar!” and the Spartan versifiers did not disappoint, inspiring each other and lifting each other up to new poetic heights. A mural consisting of student poems written on paper feathers served as an inspirational backdrop for our lyrical high-fliers. Speak Out is an annual event organized by the English department. Special thanks to eighth grade English teachers Ms. Smith and Ms. Harley for organizing.
