Important Message from the Superintendent, 9.25.2020

Dear Sewanhaka Central High School District Families,

I am writing to inform you of three positive cases of COVID-19 that have been confirmed by the Nassau County Department of Health.

Two students at Sewanhaka High School have tested positive for COVID-19. These students are in our remote learning program. The Department of Health has concluded their contact tracing and we have been advised that no action is needed to be taken by the school district.

One student at H. Frank Carey High School has been confirmed as positive for Covid-19. This student participates in the hybrid program. The student has been in quarantine and will not be permitted to return to the building until completing the required quarantine period.

As is the protocol, The Department of Health will conduct contact tracing and notify any individuals if they need to quarantine.

The Department of Health has also advised the district that our practice of maintaining six feet of social distance and requiring the wearing of masks is a best practice against the spread of the virus in our buildings. We are extremely proud of our students throughout the district, and they have done an outstanding job with social distancing, hygiene, mask wearing and acting in a responsible manner.

The Department of Health has also advised that the cleaning protocols that occur throughout the day and again in the evening are also a best practice for cleaning and disinfection of surfaces. Out of an abundance of caution, additional cleaning and disinfection will take place this evening at H. Frank Carey High School.
