Important Message from the Superintendent, 11.16.2020

Please be advised that two staff members at Sewanhaka High School have confirmed cases of Covid-19.  In consultation with the Nassau County Department of Health, Sewanhaka High School will be closed for at least tomorrow, Tuesday, November 17th and Wednesday, November 18th.  All Sewanhaka High School faculty and staff will work remotely during this time.  All instruction for students of Sewanhaka High School will be conducted remotely as well.

Students who are scheduled to attend the CTE program at Sewanhaka High School in-person on either of these days will remain at their home school, where they will participate in those classes remotely.

As per the guidance from the New York State Education Department and the New York State Department of Health, the building will remain closed to all staff tomorrow and will be deep cleaned and disinfected on Wednesday.

The Nassau County Department of Health will conduct contact tracing and inform those who may need to quarantine. Cooperation with the Department of Health is essential to determine the length of the school closure.

Once the contact tracing is completed, I will be able to inform you as to the length of the closure.

As always, the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff are our top priority.

James J. Grossane, Ed. D.

Superintendent of Schools
