Eighth Grader Chosen for Vocal Intensive

Elmont Memorial High School eighth grader Maddison Swainbank was chosen as one of four Long Island students to spend four weeks in a vocal intensive with Anwar Robinson, who starred on the fourth season of “American Idol.”

Maddison applied for a scholarship to participate in the vocal program through the New York Musician’s Center in Bellmore. Through her application, she expressed her interest and why she deserved to study with Robinson in the NYMC Idol Vocal Intensive.
During the program, Maddison learned advanced vocal techniques, including how to strengthen her voice and find her authentic sound. She also learned performance readiness.

At the conclusion of the program, Maddison participated in a studio recording, produced by Robinson, at the Dream Recording Studio in Bellmore. She performed “If I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars.
