Elmont Memorial High School student-researchers Christopher Alexander, Bryanna Scott and Malik Hyman presented their work and won awards at the virtual New York State Science and Engineering Fair.
After submitting video presentations of their respective projects, the three students were invited to the finals, which were held on March 18. They presented their work to a panel of scientists through Zoom. Then, awards were announced on March 29. Christopher earned first place, as well as the USAID Science Champion Award. He was also chosen to represent New York State at the International Science and Engineering Fair, which will be held virtually in May. Bryanna earned second place and the US Metric Association Special Award, and Malik earned third place.
