Local Councilman Visits Floral Park Business Students
Hempstead Town Councilman Edward Ambrosino paid a visit to Floral Park Memorial’s Virtual Enterprise and Entrepreneurship students on Dec. 6. The councilman shared his experiences in the business world and stressed the importance of a stellar work ethic.
Virtual Enterprise is a program that encourages students to gain hands-on knowledge by running a virtual business. This year’s team has created KicksUp!, an e-commerce business that caters to millennials who seek the convenience of a personal online stylist. Clients pay a monthly subscription fee, choose a style of sneaker and have an outfit put together for them based on their sneaker choice — hence the name KicksUp.
Senior Robail Nasir, chief executive officer of KicksUp!, pitched his team’s concept to Ambrosino, who commended the concept and gave them valuable feedback and constructive criticism on some of their designs. Senior Dylan Slavin, an employee from the VE company’s finance department, said, “It’s good to get an outside perspective on how to conduct business and how to minimize mistakes that could lead to failure. Councilman Ambrosino gave us comments and useful information to apply to our business.”
