Floral Park Honors Teacher and Staff Member of the Month

Floral Park Memorial Spanish teacher Gina D’Ammassa has been named Teacher of the Month and Athletic Department secretary Maryanne Iaquinta has been named Staff Member of the Month, both for April.
Ms. D’Ammassa is in her sixth year of teaching at Floral Park Memorial. Her enthusiasm is contagious. Any student or adult who interacts with her knows that they will be met with a smile and positive attitude. Her creativity shows up in her lessons every day, as she uses her extensive travels and her own experiences to teach Spanish in a unique, fun way. Ms. D’Ammassa’s classroom is always beautifully decorated with cultural objects and her students’ work. Students who have studied with her can attest toher excitement for teaching Spanish. This passion is what makes her special. As Student Activities Director, she is highly organized, efficient and willing to go the extra mile for all students.

Ms. Iaquinta has been a part of the athletic office for the last five years. She has developed a strong relationship with the teachers, coaches, administration, staff members, referees and community members. She is a key component in making sure that the physical education and athletic department run smoothly and efficiently. Some of her daily activities include rescheduling games, making up programs, finalizing team rosters and making up the athletes’ end-of-the-year awards. District Athletic Director Matt McLees said that Ms. Iaquinta is the best building athletic department secretary for paperwork and organization.
