Floral Park Names Educator of the Year

Congratulations to Adam Glatzer for being selected as Floral Park Memorial’s Educator of the Year. Mr. Glatzer, who has been with the school for 13 years, is one the finest school counselors. He brings energy, enthusiasm, professionalism and a genuine concern for students into every undertaking.

Mr. Glatzer is known for working extensively with teachers, parents, students, clinicians and administrators to creatively strategize various plans to achieve success for each of his students. During the holiday season, he drives to the homes of students whose families may be encountering financial difficulties and delivers gifts and food donated by several clubs and organizations. He has also assisted at many school performances and activities including sporting events, plays and musicals, and served as the video operator for the senior high winter concert. Mr. Glatzer has served as the junior varsity softball coach and an adviser of the Peer Mediation Program.

In addition to the routine counselor responsibilities of scheduling, college advisement, crisis intervention and parent conferences, Mr. Glatzer coordinates the junior scholarship program, is the DASA coordinator, teaches the Life Skills Character Education program and oversees the “On Site” college admissions program for New York Institute of Technology. In addition, he is the counselor for the Virtual Academy, assists with after-school tutoring and coordinates the Connect-Ed program for school events.

Mr. Glatzer is a true asset to the Floral Park community. He has been voted favorite teacher by the class of 2013 and received the Honorary PTSA Life Membership award in 2012. He is a true professional and colleague who can always be relied on, and more importantly he has a discerning sense of what it means to be an advocate for his students. Congratulations!
