Floral Park Student Takes Part in TOH Government Day
Floral Park Memorial junior Lizade Rodriguez represented the school during the Town of Hempstead’s Students in Government Day.
Rodriguez and 11 other high school juniors from the township were given the opportunity to learn about local government firsthand and to participate in an emergency weather drill. Rodriguez was selected to serve as acting honorary supervisor and worked with other town departments to make sure everything was functioning to its optimal potential throughout the day. She also approved plans and dispatched departments to fix and take care of issues that arose during the emergency weather drill. After working with the various departments, she took part in an emergency management meeting and received updates from each department head. They day concluded with students enjoying lunch.
