SEWANHAKA BOARD APPOINTS JASON MARTIN PRINCIPAL OF FLORAL PARK MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL

The Board of Education of the Sewanhaka Central High School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jason Martin as Principal of Floral Park Memorial High School.  This decision was made at the Board Meeting held on September 13, 2017.  Mr. Martin will be replacing Dr. Kathleen Sottile, who has been appointed as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.  The Board of Education and Dr. Ralph Ferrie, Superintendent of Schools, are enthusiastic about his appointment and anticipate that Mr. Martin will use his leadership skills and experience in education to ensure his success in this position.  

Mr. Martin will come to Floral Park Memorial High School from Rippowam Middle School in Stamford, Connecticut, where he served as Principal.  He has an exemplary record at Rippowam, where he assured an impeccable teaching and learning environment.  Prior to his position as Principal, Mr. Martin served as Assistant Principal for three years at Westhill High School in Stamford, Connecticut. He also served as a Physics teacher.

He received his Bachelor of Science in Physics and MA in Teaching at Towson University in Towson, Maryland.  Mr. Martin continued his studies at Mercy College, Dobbs Ferry, NY, where he received his MS in Building Leadership

The District is very fortunate to have an administrator of Mr. Martin’s caliber serve as the Principal of Floral Park Memorial High School.  He will officially assume his new position in early October 2017.
