Floral Park Memorial Junior High students celebrated Field Day on May 23 and 24. Each day began with a movie in the newly redesigned auditorium. Following the movie, students watched and engaged in an illusionist performance by Eric Wilzig. Eric’s extreme magic has been deemed “the craziest magic show you’ll ever see” by NFL wide receiver Victor Cruz, and Nick Cannon exclaimed, “Wow, that was amazing!” when Eric performed on the hit show “America’s Got Talent.” Needless to say, the students were blown away by the various stunts that were performed.
After the show, students headed outdoors for lunch. The Booster Club and PTSA were integral in providing various food items and helping with distribution. Finally, students spent the remainder of the day engaging in competitive games. The seventh graders enjoyed tug-of-war, the long jump, fill-the-bucket relay races, hula hoop chains and scooter races. The eighth graders rotated in teams, playing games such as kickball, European handball, basketball and capture the flag. All students ended the day with an ice-cold popsicle on the school bleachers. A great time was had by all!
