Eight students from Entrepreneurship classes and Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) recently participated in the Adelphi University Apprentice Challenge. The competition brought together high school students from across Long Island to tackle a real-world business challenge while developing skills in marketing, entrepreneurship and creative problem-solving.
This year, students were tasked by Jovia Financial Credit Union to explore what Generation Z wants from financial institutions and to develop strategies that boost brand relevance, loyalty and engagement among young consumers. Carey students worked collaboratively with peers from other schools to design bold, actionable marketing concepts and events that make banking exciting and relevant, blending financial education with lifestyle, culture and fun. They then presented their proposals to a panel of Adelphi business professors and industry professionals. Their goal was to create campaigns that encourage youth to engage with banking in a modern, appealing way rather than seeing it as “boring banking.”
The experience allowed students to apply classroom lessons to a real-world marketing scenario, creating innovative solutions that reflect the intersection of finance, culture and youth engagement. This program provided an opportunity for students to prepare for future success in business, entrepreneurship and leadership.
