HFC Valedictorian Spotlight

Fiona Lin reflects outstanding academic achievement, school community involvement and excellence in STEM education. Her impressive scores on her Advanced Placement exams earned her recognition as an AP Scholar with Distinction, which is granted to students who receive an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP exams taken and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. Fiona plays an active and influential role in the school community and is widely respected as the co-president of Key Club, president of Mathletes, vice president of Math Research Club, editor-in-chief of the LOG Yearbook and treasurer of National Honor Society. She is a member of SkillsUSA, helping her team to win first place in the regional Quiz Bowl competition and third overall in the state Quiz Bowl. A dedicated STEM student, she served as one of the main programmers on the district’s team for the NASA TechRise Student Challenge. She shares her passion with younger students as a coding teacher at the Franklin Square Public Library, leading free workshops to introduce core programming concepts to students in grades 6-10. She is also a junior volunteer at the Cradle of Aviation Museum. Her expertise in mathematics has earned her a Silver Award in the Long Island Math Fair and a Nassau County Comptroller's Math, Accounting, and Finance Award. Among her volunteer efforts, she is a page and after-school homework helper at the local library, as well.
