H. Frank Carey High School is proud to announce that four Science Research students advanced to the New York State Science Congress, held at the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry on June 7. The event brought together approximately 150 students from across New York State, all of whom earned top honors at their regional science fairs. The annual congress celebrates outstanding achievement in scientific research and provides students with the opportunity to showcase their original research projects.

In the Senior Division, Christopher Sebber presented his research project, “Optimizing Kynurenine Pathway Targeting to Mitigate Emotional Dysregulation in Youth with ASD.” In the Junior Division, Alyssa Bermudez, Elisha Hai and Mehraal Zeeshan presented their research project, “Comparing Biodegradable Plant Pot Although they did not receive awards at the state level, both research teams earned the Distinguished Category Award and a New York State Science Congress Nominee Award, which included a $300 prize, from the Long Island Science Congress. In addition, both groups received Highest Honors Awards at the Long Island Science Congress, recognizing the exceptional quality of their research.
