On Oct. 1, Social Studies Department Chairperson Mr. Farina and Social Studies teacher Mr. Soto presented Ms. Eleanor Rizzuto of Franklin Square with red, white and blue flowers, along with hundreds of birthday cards. They presented the gifts to Ms. Rizzuto in honor of her service during the World War II and for her 100th birthday (September 28). Students at H. Frank Carey High School learned of Ms. Rizzuto’s service to her country and watched a brief video on the war and her role in it. Students in grades 7-12 then created birthday cards for her. Many of them thanked her for her service and discussed the ways that she had personally inspired them.
