Mya Fiorentino and Colin Gervasi with administrator

H. Frank Carey High School has announced that Mya Fiorentino and Colin Gervasi are the Seniors of the Month for April.

Mya is warm, kind and creative. Her academic accomplishments have been recognized with inductions into the National, World Language and Art honor societies. Her involvement in the Model United Nations Club gives her a platform to use her voice. Her authenticity makes her a great role model in our Girls for Girls Club and her advocacy supports our Think Pink Club. Most of all, though, Mya’s generosity with sharing her amazing artistic talents with the HFC community and the Sewanhaka District stands above all. Her art hangs proudly in our district office, and she has left pieces of herself all around our building. As founder of our school’s Mural Club, this senior has taken it upon herself to spread her artistic beauty throughout Carey. She is one of a kind, as is her artwork, and long after she has graduated, we will all benefit from
the sentiments that she has meticulously left behind. This amazing young woman will continue to add color and life by way of Syracuse University.

Colin is an incredibly dedicated student who has the perfect combination of both determination and charisma. His personality simply shines. This student can be described as mature, kind, genuine and hardworking. In the classroom, he brings an energy and levity that is welcome and appreciated. Aside from being an excellent student, he is an outstanding soccer player. He plays travel soccer for Franklin Square and was also a two-year captain of the varsity soccer
team. He received All-State and All-Region recognitions, as well as other awards for his skills in soccer. For the past eight years, he has volunteered in facilitating the developmental soccer academy for younger children. The strong leadership and determination that he shows on the
field translates to the classroom and any challenge he faces. This senior will be continuing his academic and athletic career at Fairleigh Dickinson University in the fall.

Congratulations, Mya and Colin!
