Congratulations to Elmont Memorial High School’s Model United Nations Program! At the recent international Princeton University Model UN Conference, the students represented the nations of Bolivia, Montenegro, Ukraine, Japan, Poland, Australia, Belgium and Syria. The Elmont delegates were recognized in seven out of eight committees. They earned two Best Delegate Awards and a Best Position Paper Award, and the entire delegation won the Honorable Mention Award for a small school.

During the conference, they developed resolutions for complex issues such as the Sudanese Refugee Crisis and Women’s Rights, Neo-Colonialism in the Sahel region and Sub-Saharan Africa, State-Sponsored Terrorism, and Prevention of Space Militarization, and Promoting Peaceful Uses of Space and Space Technology.

Members of the team were led by President Madison Omega, Vice President Madison Gayle, Faculty Advisor Nkenge W. Gilliam and Chaperone Liam Reff. The distinguished delegates were Elissa Acheampong, Jayson Bhoorasingh, Christopher Cherry, Ruthann Collins, Joseley Jean, Alex Lalbachan, Yalisah Lozada, Imani Lyons, Analay McLean, Videsh Muneshwar, Nwadiuto Onyeobia, Mayes Reyes, Marah Rigaud and Giselly Romero.
