Student and teacher standing with display.

Ms. Clark's AP African American Studies class, in collaboration with Ms. Williams' TAWK (Teaching Acceptance With Kindness) Club, created a special display for Black History Month highlighting Black Excellence and Hidden Figures. The project honors the hard-working and inspiring Black faculty members at Elmont Memorial High School, showing that Black excellence isn’t just in history books — it’s alive at EMHS. Students interviewed staff members to learn about their backgrounds; educational and work journeys; and how mentorship, kindness, support, acceptance and representation have shaped their experiences.

The display can be seen at the main entrance, across from the security booth. Please take a moment to stop by and read about the amazing members of our school community. We are very proud to showcase EMHS's very own Hidden Figures.”
