This spring break, from April 5-15, Elissa Acheampong participated in an incredible study abroad experience in South Africa through the I AM C.U.L.T.U.R.E.D. program. This immersive journey combined education, cultural exploration and meaningful service.
During the trip, Elissa engaged in impactful community service in Soweto, visiting a local elementary school to donate supplies, read with children and collaborate on storytelling activities that encouraged creativity, literacy and connection. She also explored key historical and cultural landmarks, including Nelson Mandela House, Constitution Hill, the Apartheid Museum and Robben Island, deepening her understanding of social justice and global history.
This transformative experience helped Elissa develop global awareness, strengthen leadership skills and gain a deeper appreciation for cultural diversity, truly embodying the power of learning beyond the classroom.
