Trumpet, our school’s art and literary magazine club, hosted its fourth annual Poetry Café on Nov. 18. Special guest and Nassau County Poet Laureate Alan Semerdjian performed his poetry, sang while playing guitar, and inspired students with his passion for writing and the literary arts. Mr. Semerdjian has been a high school English teacher at Herricks High School for more than 25 years.
Over 45 students attended the event, enjoying poetry games, sketching activities and an open mic session. The adviser for Trumpet, Ms. Diana Poulos-Lutz, is grateful that the district continues to support and celebrate the arts through literary and other creative initiatives.
