During the holiday season, Floral Park Memorial High School’s Student Council made a positive impact in the community by organizing its annual Island Harvest food drive, which ran from Nov. 10-Dec. 11.
Thanks to the kindness and participation of students and staff, a total of 1,650 pounds of nonperishable food was collected and will be distributed to local food banks and pantries, helping provide 1,375 meals to those experiencing food insecurity.
In addition to the food drive, the Student Council will host an Ugly Sweater Day on Dec. 19 to raise additional funds for Island Harvest.
