Man giving presentation to students.

On March 13, Dr. Schwartz's Global Studies class and Mr. D'Amico's English class had the unique privilege of hosting two speakers from 3GNY (Third Generation New York). The speakers shared their families' powerful experiences, tracing their journeys from internment in Auschwitz to building new lives in the United States, and carrying a message of hope into the present day.

This visit provided vital context for what the ninth graders are currently learning. It deepened their understanding of the historical impact of antisemitism and the Holocaust, while also bringing historical significance to their current reading of Elie Wiesel's “Night.

The students engaged directly with the speakers during a Q&A and will continue to process this experience in the coming days. In English class, they will journal about the presentation; while in Social Studies, they will draft follow-up questions to send to the presenters to keep the dialogue going. Some students asked if we could pass along thanks to the speakers, and we certainly will!
