students on the baseball field

As a Mets fan photographer herself, Ms. Crimi organized an exciting opportunity to visit Citi Field for a behind-the-scenes look at the world of sports photography for her Photographic Arts students, Ms. Santana's Digital Design 1 class and veteran members of Ms. Papajohn-Shaw's Photography Club. During the visit, they met with the Met photographers who work at the ballpark and learned about their day-to-day responsibilities, the skills needed to capture the action and what it takes to tell a story through images.

The experience gave students a firsthand look at how photography combines creativity, technical knowledge, preparation and quick decision-making. By speaking directly with working professionals, students were able to ask questions, gain insight into a career in photography and explore how classroom learning connects to real-world opportunities.

Of course, no trip to Citi Field would be complete without a little time on the field! Students had the memorable experience of walking on the field and sitting in the dugout, giving them a unique perspective on the ballpark beyond what fans typically get to see.

The visit was both an educational experience and an unforgettable adventure, allowing students to learn from professionals, explore potential career paths, and experience the excitement of being behind the scenes at a major league ballpark.
