Students With Boxes of Donated Goods

Floral Park Memorial High School’s Student Council, under the advisement of Carolyn Faggioni and in conjunction with the social studies department, recently concluded its annual Holiday Food Drive for Island Harvest. Students, faculty and staff raised over 2,000 pounds of non-perishable food items, as well as several hundred dollars in cash contributions for Island Harvest. This annual event concluded with a schoolwide “Ugly Sweater Day.” Students wore their favorite ugly sweaters to school to demonstrate support of the issue of food security. Ms. Dierlam’s social studies class donated the most food items, while Dr. D’Ammassa’s world language class raised the most funds. Students in these two classes will be treated to a pizza luncheon courtesy of Student Council.
