Students at Poetry Café

On Nov. 17, the Trumpet and Creative Writing Clubs hosted a poetry cafe with special guest Nassau County Poet Laureate Paula Curci. Ms. Curci, a retired guidance counselor from Sewanhaka High School, spoke about what it means to be a poet laureate, performed some of her poems, and led fun poetry activities. Students were encouraged to read poetry during an open mic session, share their collaborative table poems and share artwork they worked on during the event. Ms. Curci was impressed with the enthusiasm,  creativity and talent of all of our students who attended. Ms. Poulos, adviser of the Trumpet Club, and Mr. Demmers, adviser of the Creative Writing Club, are grateful to Ms. Curci for such a wonderfully inspirational afternoon for our students.
