Principles of Biomedical students dissected sheep hearts to explain their proper and improper functions and used medical information and gross examinations to diagnose heart diseases or disorders. They observed hearts suffering from congestive heart failure, a myocardial infarction (heart attack), a ventricular septal defect and bacterial endocarditis. They also diagnosed the cause of death of the fictional Anna Garcia to complete their investigation of her death. She suffered from a ventricular septal defect leading to the blockage of the coronary arteries. This resulted in a heart attack.
