From March 9-13, Sewanhaka High School celebrated World Languages Week with activities highlighting language, culture and creativity.
Students in Mrs. Bascetta's class watched Casi Casi, played dominoes and participated in Drop Everything and Read in Spanish. They also explored Pablo Picasso and created their own Cubism-inspired art. Mr. Caviedes' students collaborated on posters celebrating Latin American traditions while Ms. Farina's students worked to complete a puzzle showcasing the beauty of Barcelona.
Ms. Correa's students decorated our hallways with posters inspired by the theme “Traditions Through Language. Students learned to dance salsa, merengue and bachata from Mrs. Madruga. Ms. Brunetti's students solved Italian Escape Room challenges that led to a final Italian festa! Several of her students also represented Sewanhaka in the Italian National Exam Contest.
The week ended with our World Languages Honor Society hosting Henna Fest.
It was an amazing week celebrating our love for world languages and cultures!
