On Oct. 28, the Sewanhaka High School World Languages Department welcomed Danielle Marie Fusco, award-winning performer and tarantella dancer, for a special Italian American Heritage Month celebration!
Students of Italian, French and Spanish enjoyed an engaging performance while learning about the origins of the tarantella, a traditional Italian folk dance, and its important place in Italian culture and heritage. Students also had the opportunity to learn how to play castanets, traditional handheld percussion instruments and join in the dancing themselves!
It was a wonderful celebration of Italian culture, music, dance, and community. Grazie to Ms. Fusco for sharing her talent and passion with our students!
Buon Mese del Patrimonio Italiano a tutti!
