students holding lit candles

On Nov. 9, Sewanhaka High School attended the annual FBLA District Installation Dinner at the Inn at New Hyde Park. All five schools in the district got together to formally indict the officers into their positions. Students got to hear from guest speaker Christopher Bates, assistant dean at Long Island University. The night also included several alumni of FBLA speaking on how FBLA helped them to succeed after high school. Many of the alumni said FBLA had prepared them to be able to adjust to college life, whether it be with soft skills or helping them with their intended major. Following these speeches was the candle lighting ceremony where FBLA officers were collectively indicted after promising to uphold their responsibilities. The evening concluded with dancing, food and new friends.
