Students Attend the FCCLA National Leadership Conference

Win Hla, Catherine Krisenlall, Ashna Balroop and Feba Saji from Sewanhaka High School attended the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) 2022 National Leadership Conference (NLC) in San Diego, Calif., from June 29-July 3. FCCLA’s 2022 NLC drew more than 7,000 members, advisers and supporters from across the nation with opportunities for personal development, career exploration, leadership opportunities and community service.

Thanks to the dedication and hard work of these incredible students and their adviser Daisy Amaris, the following students were awarded gold and placed in the top 10 in the country in their respective STAR events:

Catherine Krisenlall – Teach and Train

Ashna Balroop – Career Investigation

Feba Saji – Received Silver in the Job Interview Competition

Throughout NLC, attendees heard from keynote speakers, participated in leadership workshops and made their voices heard. Students competed in career-focused Skill Demonstration Event competitions and team events that tested their knowledge in personal finance, consumer responsibilities, technology, health and safety, and more. FCCLA members also received the opportunity to network with fellow youth leaders and learn more about future career and college options through exploring the career pathways of Human Services, Hospitality and Tourism, Education and Training, and Visual Arts and Design.
