The district’s robotics team, RoboPandas, competed in the initial FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifier event at Half Hollow Hills High School on Dec. 10. They competed against multiple teams from across Long Island.
The RoboPandas finished in second place in their alliance with the St. Anthony’s Friars team. The Sewanhaka team also finished first in the Motivate Category for raising awareness and encouraging participation in robotics, and third place in the Think Category through which they documented their season so far. Their overall performance in all judged categories earned them the runner-up position in the Inspire Category.
The RoboPandas qualified for the FIRST Long Island Championships which are planned to be held this spring.
