The district is pleased to announce that Nichole Allen, the current principal of Sewanhaka High School, has been promoted to the role of assistant superintendent for student support services, effective Aug. 1.
Allen has served the Sewanhaka community since 2007, beginning her career as assistant principal. She became interim principal in 2020 and was officially appointed as principal of the building in 2021. Among her accomplishments, she initiated a Child Study Team for ELL students, prompted the implementation of new college dual enrolled courses - Ed Equity Project (Title I), spearheaded the process for being recognized as an Apple Distinguished School (awarded in November 2022) and collaborated with Student Support Services on special events. She also served as a member of the district’s Portrait of a Graduate Committee and co-coordinated Sewanhaka High School Mascot Exploratory Committee.
Prior to joining Sewanhaka, Allen served as an assistant principal in the Uniondale Union Free School District, and as the social studies department chairperson and social studies teacher in the Westbury Union Free School District.
Allen received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Temple University, her Master of Arts in Secondary Education from Hofstra University, her Master of Arts in School Administration from LIU Post.
