The Elmont community was alive with energy and pride on Oct. 25, as Elmont Memorial High School’s homecoming festivities brought students, staff and families together in celebration.
A crisp, beautiful fall morning set the perfect stage for the much-anticipated parade. Crowds lined the streets to cheer on the marching band, cheerleaders, student clubs, homecoming court, and students and staff as they made their way down Dutch Broadway.
That afternoon, the excitement continued as fans packed the football stands, rallying behind the Spartans in a matchup against Valley Stream North High School that ended in a 13-9 victory for the home team.
During halftime, the marching band performed their dynamic “Illuminate” show, and Elissa Acheampong and Varda Qudratullah were crowned as this year’s Homecoming Royalty. Additionally, winners were announced for Spirit Week, class floats and student group banners. The 12th graders took first place in both Spirit Week and class floats, while the Junior High Dance Team earned top honors for banners in the junior high category and Cultures United claimed first place for their banner in the senior high category.
