On March 14, the district hosted its annual pop culture convention Sewanha-Con, welcoming over 100 students from all five high schools.
The convention began with an opening ceremony, featuring a performance from the Sewanhaka Chamber Orchestra, led by Dr. Wu. More than 30 students entered into a cosplay contest, showcasing their amazing costume designs.
Throughout the day, students could choose from a variety of activities, including a costuming panel hosted by the Star Wars 501st Legion Empire City Garrison and the Saber Guild Endor Temple, videogame free play set up by Long Island Retro, a “How to Caricature” lesson led by Sewanhaka art teacher Mr. Hendrick, a lightsaber choreography class, anime trivia, and an anime screening hosted by Ms. Wiswall and Mr. Buhse from Floral Park.
Students had a fun, pop-culture filled day filled with art, gaming costuming and more! The event was organized by Mr. Mirsky and the Sewanha-Con Club at Sewanhaka High School.
