Sewanhaka High School’s Senior High Orchestra had the special opportunity to present a concert program on the stage of the Tilles Center on April 15, prior to a performance by the Long Island Festival Orchestra.
Under the direction of Dr. Tommy Wu, the school ensemble delivered a compelling performance featuring “The Barber of Seville” by Gioachino Rossini, arranged by James McLeod; “Kingdom Hearts Medley” by Yoko Shimomura, arranged by Dr. Wu; and “Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Richard Meyer.
Following their program, members of the Sewanhaka Orchestra joined the Long Island Festival Orchestra for a collaborative performance of Antonín Dvořák’s Symphony No. 9 in E minor Opus 95, “From the New World.”
“This was a memorable event for the students, and we appreciate the Festival Orchestra and director Eric B. Stewart for inviting them to perform,” Sewanhaka High School Music Chairperson Christopher Doherty said.
